Jada Pinkett Smith was the one in the hot seat during a recent episode of her Facebook show, Red Table Talk. Instead of interviewing a guest, her husband Will Smith sat her down to address the rumours surrounding a possible relationship she had with singer August Alsina.
“We decided that we were going to separate for a period of time and you go figure out how to make yourself happy and I’ll figure out how to make myself happy,” Will admitted on the show. “From there, as time went on, I got into a different kind of entanglement with August,” Jada explained. After being pressed by her husband to clarify what she meant, she said, “Yes, it was a relationship absolutely.”

This discussion comes weeks after August Alsina told Angela Yee in an interview that Will gave his “blessing” for him to date his wife, indicating that they have an open marriage. “I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life, and I truly and really, really, deeply loved and have a ton of love for her,” August added.
Jada’s rep initially denied the accusation, calling it “absolutely not true.” But, clearly there is more to the story. “Through that particular journey, I learned so much about myself and was able to really confront a lot of emotional immaturity, emotional insecurity and I was really able to do some really deep healing,” Jada said. “And as I came through and started to realize certain things about you and I, he decided to break all communication with me which was totally understandable.”
Despite their romance, she did make one thing clear regarding August’s claims. “One thing I want to clean up… about you giving ‘permission’ which is… the only person that can give permission in that circumstance is myself,” she explained.
Apparently this drama isn’t enough to shake Jada and Will’s 25 years of marriage.”I could love you through anything,” he told his wife.
